The Litokol Sweepex sponge is intended for cleaning and maintaining surfaces grouted with epoxy gels from the Starlike range. It comes as a loose sponge.
Product & function
Epoxy requires a different sponge than cement. When washing off an epoxy joint, the sponge must release enough water to loosen the resin, but not empty the joint itself. This sponge is recommended by Litokol for use with Starlike gels, and the datasheets for those gels also refer to it.
Application & compatibility
- Cleaning of freshly grouted work with Starlike epoxy gels
- Maintenance of epoxy-grouted surfaces
- Floor and wall
Please note: a different sponge is required for cement-based grouts. Litokol recommends a cellulose sponge for those, not this one.
Use & considerations
- Use while the grout is still fresh
- Wring out thoroughly: too wet will empty the joint
- Change rinse water frequently
- Work diagonally to the joint direction
- Follow the times specified on the grout datasheet
If you are working with a product whose processing times you do not know, adhere to the technical sheet for that product.

Frequently asked questions
What is this sponge for? For cleaning and maintaining surfaces grouted with epoxy gels from the Starlike range.
Can I also use it for cement grout? Litokol recommends a cellulose sponge for that, not this one. For cement-based grout, use that one.
How wet should the sponge be? Well-wrung out. A too-wet sponge will empty the fresh joint, which you will see later in the seam.
Why do I need to change the water so often? Because dirty rinse water leaves the dissolved resin back on the tile. That is exactly the haze you are trying to remove.
