When processing Ytong aerated concrete into strong, stable walls, it is very important to use the correct adhesive and filling materials. Xella offers a number of tailor-made solutions for this purpose. For example, a special adhesive mortar has been developed for Ytong aerated concrete. Ytong-fix is a KOMO-certified cement-based mortar that is produced in Xella's own adhesive factory and is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. The use of this block adhesive is one of the conditions for meeting the quality required for aerated concrete structures. A product similar to the adhesive is Ytong-fill, which is used in indoor applications for repairing walls and sealing pipe trenches. Surface damage can also be repaired with Ytong-fill. Ytong-skin, a plaster mortar for indoor use, is usually used in conjunction with a tin layer.
With Ytong-skin, walls are finished ready for wallpaper or spraying. Aerated concrete can be glued or mortared. Gluing with Ytong-fix is preferred. If you opt for bricklaying, it is important to add Ytong-add to the bricklaying and grout. This is to prevent 'burning' and to ensure better processing of the mortar. Despite their light weight, Ytong walls are sturdy and therefore ideal for attaching objects. However, a mirror requires a different solution than a sink.
